The Price of a Party: Has Ibiza Lost Its Soul?

Sigma Club Ibiza Editorial | May 2025

There was a time when Ibiza meant freedom—an island where music spoke louder than money, and the dancefloor welcomed everyone equally. But today, the cost of a drink might hurt more than the hangover.

From 2019 to 2025, prices for a basic mixed drink have more than doubled. In some clubs, what used to cost 12€ now goes for 25€ or more. Below, a simple comparison:

The New VIP Era

At venues like Hï Ibiza and Ushuaïa, a single copa hits 25€. Beer? 17€. Water? 12€. Meanwhile, VIP tables in places like Lío can reach 2,500€, while tickets for Pacha might cost over 120€ just to get in.

These prices reflect more than just inflation—they represent a shift in culture. One where big-name DJs and luxury tourism have replaced community and connection.

A Tale of Two Ibizas

While some toast with champagne at velvet-roped booths, others gather in car parks for botellón—drinking in circles, dodging insane club prices. Locals and younger visitors seek refuge in zones like Sant Antoni, where the spirit of accessible partying still survives.

In our own small space at Sigma, we’re watching this split deepen. We see guests enter mega clubs with a Red Bull from the gas station and no plan to buy inside. Not because they don’t love the music. But because the cost to participate has become exclusionary.

Sigma’s Stand

We’re not against success or growth. But at Sigma, we believe intimacy, sound purity, and underground culture matter more than bottle service. We’re still vinyl-only. Still rooted in authenticity. Still here for those who want to dance, not just pose.

Because for us, the party isn’t a product. It’s a frequency. And it should stay within reach.
